Start by identifying what concerns you about the pool's interior, waterline tile, coping, deck and equipment. Describe how the pool currently operates and what you want to change. Review existing conditions before defining the work, separating appearance updates from equipment concerns and features you would like to add.
A project may focus on a selected finish or equipment component, or combine several updates. Discuss what can remain, which items are priorities and how the proposed changes relate to one another. The Kenner project below documents a combined scope of replastering, spray-deck work and equipment improvements; it is an example rather than a required package for every pool.
Plan pool replastering and resurfacing alongside coping and waterline tile when both are included. Consider the surrounding pool deck work so materials and transitions can be reviewed together.
If equipment or feature changes are planned, discuss automation upgrades in relation to compatible equipment. Include selected water features in the scope discussion so their plumbing and control needs can be considered with the other work.
Before work begins, discuss how removal, preparation, finish installation and equipment changes will be coordinated. Clarify which decisions need to be made before adjoining surfaces are finished and how any additional work identified during renovation will be reviewed. The sequence should reflect the agreed scope and existing conditions rather than an assumed schedule.
